A typical weather monitoring station may measure temperature, humidity, wind, and rainfall. Visibility and road-surface sensors are added when the monitoring site has specific risks such as fog, heavy precipitation, ice, snow, or slippery pavement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The right sensor combination depends on the road environment and what the operator needs to monitor. The following five sensor groups cover the main measurements used in road weather monitoring, from basic atmospheric conditions to direct pavement observations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Air Temperature and Relative Humidity Sensors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Air temperature helps identify changes that may affect road conditions, especially during freezing weather or periods of high heat. Relative humidity describes the moisture level in the air and adds useful context when monitoring fog, precipitation, or possible condensation. However, relative humidity alone cannot determine whether a road surface is frozen. It supports RS485\/Modbus output and can monitor reduced visibility caused by fog, rain, snow, dust, and haze.
