RY-CGH photosynthetic radiation sensor

The photosynthetically active radiation sensor is a professional instrument used to measure photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) in the 400–700 nm band of natural light, which can reflect the level of light energy available for plant photosynthesis. This sensor uses a silicon photodetector and an optical filter to convert the incident light intensity into a voltage signal proportional to it, and can be converted into μmol/(m²·s) output. It has the characteristics of response consistent with cosine characteristics, simple structure, and can work around the clock. It is widely used in agricultural meteorological monitoring, crop growth research, greenhouse management, ecological environment research and other fields.

자주 묻는 질문

What is a Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) Sensor?

A PAR sensor measures photosynthetically active radiation within the 400–700nm wavelength range, reflecting the effective light intensity available for plant photosynthesis.

What parameters does a PAR sensor primarily measure?

PAR sensors primarily measure photosynthetically active radiation intensity (μmol/m²·s). This is used to evaluate the actual light conditions available to plants in crops, greenhouses, and farm fields, rather than general light brightness (Lux).

How does a PAR sensor work?

PAR sensors typically employ a silicon photodetector paired with a 400–700nm optical filter. They convert incident light into an electrical signal proportional to radiation intensity, then apply cosine response correction to achieve high-precision PAR measurements.

What distinguishes PAR sensors from illuminance sensors?

Illuminance sensors (Lux Sensors) are based on human visual response, whereas PAR sensors are specifically designed for plant photosynthesis. They measure only the spectral range absorbable by plants, making them more suitable for agricultural meteorology and crop growth monitoring.

In which fields are PAR sensors primarily applied?

PAR sensors are widely used in agricultural meteorological monitoring, crop growth research, greenhouse environmental control, smart agriculture systems, and ecological/illumination experimental studies.

Are PAR sensors suitable for long-term outdoor use?

Yes. High-quality PAR sensors feature waterproof, dustproof, and UV-resistant designs for stable, all-weather operation. They are suitable for outdoor installation in fields and greenhouses.
