Notes1.The sensor integrating three parameters—air temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure—is housed within a three-layer outdoor radiation shield. Constructed from a specially proportioned blend of polycarbonate and fiber, the shield features an internally sprayed thermal insulation layer to minimize solar radiation effects. With no moving parts, it ensures long-term measurement accuracy.
2. Wind speed and direction parameters : Wind speed and direction are measured using ultrasonic principles. It can also output instantaneous wind speed, instantaneous wind direction, average wind speed, and average wind direction data. An optional electronic compass can be used to measure the device’s orientation to correct the wind direction data, and an optional GPS can be used to calculate the actual wind speed and direction of the moving device.
3. Optical Rain Gauge: Automatically senses raindrops falling on its outer surface and calculates the rainfall based on the size and number of raindrops. Compared to traditional tipping bucket rain gauges, optical rain gauges are less accurate . While their readings are generally close to those of a tipping bucket, significant deviations can occur during abnormal events (heavy rain). However, they have no moving parts, making them more suitable for applications where tipping bucket rain monitoring is not feasible , such as in locations where mobile monitoring is not possible or where maintenance is difficult. Compared to tipping bucket rain gauges, optical rain gauges offer higher sensitivity to small amounts of rainfall and are not limited by installation location .
