Antecedentes do projeto

Chagan Lake is an important freshwater lake and wetland area in Jilin, with a large water surface and noticeable local weather variations. Changes in wind, temperature, humidity, and rainfall can affect the lake environment, aquatic habitats, and day-to-day wetland management. To obtain more continuous local weather data and improve monitoring of strong wind and other weather conditions, the local management authority decided to establish an automatic weather monitoring point along the lake.

The lakefront presents a typical outdoor monitoring environment, with high humidity, strong winds, and large temperature differences between day and night. These conditions require the equipment to withstand moisture and outdoor exposure while maintaining stable measurements over a long period. Manual observation alone could not provide continuous data at the required frequency, so an automatic station was selected to collect and transmit weather information without regular on-site recording.

The project uses a compact automatic weather station to collect local meteorological data and build a continuous monitoring point along the lake. The recorded information can support wetland research, local weather observation and warning, water-resource management, and routine ecological protection work.

On-Site Installation Process

Before installation, the technical team inspected the Chagan Lake shoreline monitoring point and considered the local wind exposure, terrain, moisture, and accessibility. The station mounting position was selected to provide an unobstructed measurement area while avoiding obvious sources of interference. The mounting structure was then secured, followed by installation of the weather sensor, data acquisition unit, communication equipment, and outdoor wiring. Sensor positioning and cable protection were checked to suit the lakeside environment.

After the hardware was installed, engineers completed wiring checks, power-up testing, sensor verification, and wireless communication commissioning. The collected data were reviewed during trial operation to confirm that temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, atmospheric pressure, and rainfall readings were being acquired and transmitted correctly. Once the communication link and data output were confirmed, the station was handed over for routine monitoring.

  • Miniestação meteorológica XF700S: Integrates temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, atmospheric pressure, rainfall, and solar radiation measurement in a compact outdoor unit.
  • Registador de dados: Collects, processes, and stores measurements from the weather monitoring sensors before transmission.
  • Módulo de comunicação sem fios: Supports remote data transmission through communication options such as 4G, LoRa, Wi-Fi, or other interfaces selected for the monitoring system.
  • Outdoor Mounting Structure: Fixes the monitoring equipment at the required installation height and position for continuous outdoor measurement.
  • Sistema de alimentação eléctrica: Provides operating power for the monitoring station; the weather-station system can be configured with a solar panel, rechargeable battery, and power-management components for outdoor sites without convenient grid access.

Project Implementation

1. Site Survey & Installation

The technical team first inspected the Chagan Lake shoreline and selected a suitable monitoring point based on the local terrain, wind exposure, moisture conditions, and accessibility. The mounting structure was secured at the selected location, followed by installation of the weather station, data acquisition unit, communication antenna, and related wiring. Sensor positions were checked during installation, while outdoor cable connections were protected against rain and moisture.

2. Commissioning & Handover

After installation, engineers checked the sensor connections, power supply, data acquisition, and wireless communication system. Temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, atmospheric pressure, and rainfall data were verified during trial operation, and the remote transmission link was tested to confirm stable data delivery. After the measurements and communication were confirmed, the station was handed over to the site management team, together with basic guidance on routine inspection and maintenance.

  • Multi-parameter local monitoring: The system measures air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, atmospheric pressure, and rainfall, allowing operators to review changes in local weather conditions from one monitoring point.
  • Useful for ecological and site management: Continuous weather records provide supporting data for wetland observation, weather condition tracking, environmental research, and routine management of the Chagan Lake protected area.

Feedback do cliente

After the system was delivered, the lake management team found the weather station practical for daily monitoring. The equipment has continued to operate in the humid and windy lakeside environment, with stable data collection and remote access. The remote monitoring function has also reduced the need for staff to make frequent trips to the shoreline to record weather data manually.

“Previously, we had to send staff to the lake at regular intervals to record weather conditions. It took time and also made field work more difficult. Now we can check the weather data directly from the office, which makes daily monitoring much easier and reduces the number of unnecessary site visits.”

The management team considered the automatic station a useful addition to the existing monitoring work, providing continuous local weather records for routine ecological management and related research at Chagan Lake.
