Project Overview

Before the start of the 2024 rainy season, a public university in Bangkok, Thailand, collaborated with our company to deploy a portable outdoor weather monitoring station system to enhance its campus environmental monitoring capabilities. The project was completed in just three working days, including equipment installation and debugging. The system provides real-time data on temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed, and wind direction across the campus, supporting the university’s teaching, research, and facility management.

Customer Requirements

As an educational institution in a tropical region, the client’s core demands are clear:

  • Adaptation to tropical climate: Must withstand Bangkok’s high temperatures, humidity, and heavy rainfall;
  • Flexible and convenient deployment: Campus green areas lack a fixed power supply, requiring solar-powered standalone operation.
  • Real-time data availability: Must integrate with the school’s internal management platform for teaching, learning, and logistical reference.
  • Low maintenance costs: Equipment must feature corrosion resistance and ease of maintenance.

Solution

To address these requirements, we provided an integrated compact weather station system with the following core equipment specifications:

Sensing Modules:

  • Temperature and Humidity Sensor: Measurement range -40~60°C/0~100% RH, accuracy ±0.5°C/±3% RH.
  • Anemometer: Wind speed 0~60 m/s (accuracy ±0.3 m/s), wind direction 0~360° (accuracy ±3°).
  • Rain Gauge: Resolution 0.2mm, supports tipping-bucket automatic measurement.
  • Power System: 10W monocrystalline silicon solar panel + 12V lithium battery pack, providing 72 hours of operation during continuous overcast/rainy conditions.
  • Data Transmission: 4G wireless module supporting real-time uploads to the cloud platform.
  • Protective Configuration: IP65-rated waterproof and corrosion-resistant housing with stainless steel mounting brackets, suitable for tropical outdoor environments.

Yantai Service and Installation Support

Considering the client lacks a specialized technical team, we provide end-to-end implementation support:

  • Pre-installation Survey: On-site visit to confirm installation locations (avoiding building obstructions and tree interference).
  • On-site installation: Two engineers deploy hardware within 3 hours using portable tools and counterweight stones to secure the bracket.
  • Commissioning training: Complete data platform integration within 1 hour and train two maintenance staff on basic equipment checks and data export operations.
  • After-sales support: Provide 1 year of free maintenance and guidance on equipment upkeep in tropical environments (e.g., cleaning solar panels before the rainy season).

Three months after deployment, the school’s logistics director reported: “This automatic weather monitoring station enabled us to accurately predict short-duration heavy rainfall during the rainy season, allowing us to adjust campus drainage inspection schedules in advance.
