Station météorologique ultrasonique déployée pour le palais Catherine, Russie

Contexte du projet

The Cultural Heritage Management Office of Catherine Palace, Tsarskoye Selo, Russia, needed a compact weather station to monitor the roof environment of the historic palace. Traditional weather stations with moving parts often fail in St. Petersburg’s freezing winters and require drilling into the building structure. After reviewing available options, the authority chose Yantai Sensors’ XF802 ultrasonic micro weather station for continuous monitoring of eight weather parameters with minimal impact on the heritage site.

Installation sur site et configuration de l'équipement

The Yantai Sensors compact weather station is mounted on the decorative chimney of Catherine Palace’s roof in Tsarskoye Selo, Russia. The light bracket uses few drill holes to prevent damage to the palace’s painted and gilded exterior.

  • Meteorological sensor: XF802 integrated ultrasonic micro weather station
  • Power supply system: 24V DC building power supply for round-the-clock continuous operation;
  • Control terminal: Indoor data collector connected to CLIMAFLEX platform for automatic METAR reports
  • Support structure: Galvanized C steel frame, L-bracket, IP54 waterproof junction box, flexible metal conduit for wiring

Project Operation Performance

  • 24/7 stable data collection: The moving-part-free XF802 sensor operates stably at -25°C in rainy and snowy conditions. It uploads eight meteorological parameters every 10 seconds with data integrity over 99.7%, with no freezing or leakage issues.
  • High-precision microclimate monitoring: Roof-mounted sensor captures on-site microclimate differences between windward and leeward building surfaces, accurately evaluating weather erosion on gilded and painted building structures.
  • Platform data management: CLIMAFLEX platform displays real-time and historical data, auto-generates standard METAR reports, supports database docking, data review and annual report export.
  • Low maintenance: The integrated structure requires only annual routine cleaning. Galvanized steel brackets remain stable and rust-free after two years of outdoor operation.

Commentaires des clients

The management office highly valued the monitoring data for supporting heritage preservation and maintenance planning. The system helped improve environmental records, reduce manual data processing, and provide reliable references for restoration work. Satisfied with the results, the client plans to expand the monitoring network with additional sensors.
