IOT Environmental Monitoring Station Project in Sichuan for Smart Forestry Management

Sichuan is one of China’s most important ecological regions, with extensive forest resources and rapidly developing eco-tourism zones. For local authorities, building a reliable IOT environmental monitoring station network is essential for improving ecological supervision and supporting sustainable forest management.
Previously, traditional manual inspection methods could not provide continuous environmental data or support real-time public information release. To address this challenge, Yantai Sensor worked with local meteorological authorities to deploy 69 environmental monitoring station systems across major forest areas and scenic locations.

Customer Requirements
At the beginning of the project, the local meteorological department presented clear technical requirements for the new environmental monitoring station deployment. The customer required every environmental monitoring station to:
- Operate continuously in remote forest locations
- Maintain stable performance without grid power supply
- Deliver accurate environmental data under humid mountain conditions
- Support long-distance wireless data transmission
- Provide real-time ecological information for public display
After multiple rounds of communication and site assessments, Yantai Sensor developed a customized environmental monitoring station solution tailored to local climate and terrain conditions. To validate long-term performance, pilot environmental monitoring station units were installed for testing before full deployment.
Our Solutions
To ensure stable long-term operation of the environmental monitoring station in Sichuan’s forestry scenic areas, we delivered a practical and fully integrated solution tailored to local site conditions. We combined reliable data collection, independent power supply, real-time transmission, and centralized management, so you can achieve continuous environmental monitoring with minimal maintenance.
Integrated Multi-Parameter Sensing
We equipped each environmental monitoring station with a compact ultrasonic sensor module that combines wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure monitoring. Optional sensors for negative oxygen ions, pollen concentration, and blue sky index can also be integrated, helping you collect multiple ecological indicators through one streamlined system.
Independent Solar Power Supply
To adapt to remote mountain locations, we designed a solar-powered energy system with built-in battery storage. This allows the environmental monitoring station to operate continuously without external power access, ensuring stable performance even during extended cloudy or rainy periods.
Reliable Data Transmission & Control
Each station includes an industrial-grade control unit with 4G/5G wireless communication. We enable real-time data collection, local storage backup, and automatic retransmission, so your monitoring data remains complete even when signal conditions fluctuate.
Rugged Outdoor Protection
We use corrosion-resistant galvanized structures with lightning protection and IP65-rated waterproof design. This ensures the environmental monitoring station can withstand Sichuan’s humid, high-rainfall, and complex outdoor environments for long-term reliable use.
Real-Time Visual Display
For scenic spot visitor engagement, we integrated outdoor LED display screens that present key ecological indicators such as negative oxygen ion concentration, temperature, humidity, and air quality in real time, making environmental data more intuitive and accessible.
Unified Cloud Management Platform
We also developed a centralized cloud platform for remote monitoring and management. Through one dashboard, you can view real-time station status, analyze historical trends, generate reports, and receive automatic alerts, making large-scale environmental monitoring station management more efficient and data-driven.

Project Achievement
After formal operation, the monitoring network delivers stable and continuous ecological data. Local meteorological departments obtain accurate long-term monitoring materials to support ecological protection research and regulatory planning.
Visible ecological data greatly improves scenic spot brand influence. The unique natural oxygen bar feature attracts more tourists and drives regional tourism growth.
